Volunteer in the Media Special in the Wilson Learning Commons!
What do Parent Volunteers do in the Media Special?
The Media Special is held in the Learning Commons. While the Media Specialist teaches class, the parent volunteers are critical to keeping things running smoothly there. Volunteers check out books to the kids, help students find books, check in and reshelve the books that are returned, make sure shelves are properly ordered, and a variety of other fun projects.
When are Parent Volunteers needed?
Volunteers staff the Learning Commons every day of the school week. We have both morning and afternoon shifts during the times that K-3 have Media. Parents of students in any grade are welcome to volunteer.
How does scheduling work?
Sign up via the Sign-Up Genius link to let us know that you are interested. We’ll then send you a link to a form that will allow you to choose what days/shifts you’d like to volunteer and how often. Once we know who can help and when, we’ll give you the schedule for the entire year.
Will I receive training?
Absolutely. We’ll have a couple of training sessions for new volunteers and any returning volunteers that wish to attend. We will show you how the bookshelves are organized, how to check out books on the computer, and everything else you’ll need to know.
Thank you in advance for your interest!
Sincerely,
Johnny Downey, Media Specialist
